How to Install Inside Corner Trims with Duma Tiles

When installing wall panels, achieving clean, professional-looking corners can make a big difference to the overall appearance of your space. With Duma Tiles, this process is simple thanks to their purpose-designed Inside Corner Trim. These trims not only create a neat finish but also help maintain a watertight seal, especially in bathrooms, showers, and utility areas.

This guide walks you through how to install the last short piece of tile at the end of a row when using Inside Corner Trims with Duma Tiles.

Step 1: Install the Inside Corner Trims

Begin by fitting the Inside Corner Trims into each corner using a suitable adhesive. Once in place, allow the adhesive to cure for a full 24 hours before continuing. This ensures the trims are secure and ready to hold the tiles firmly in position.

When positioning the trims, make sure they are correctly oriented. Each Inside Corner Trim has two channels – one full and one partial. The full channel should always face the back wall, while the partial channel faces outward to receive the edge of the next tile. This orientation is key to achieving a smooth, professional finish.

Step 2: Measure and Cut the Final Tile

To determine the size of your final tile section, measure carefully from the inside lip of the previously installed tile to the inside edge of the corner trim. This measurement gives you the precise length needed for the last piece.

Mark the measurement onto your Duma Tile and cut it to size using a fine-tooth saw or utility knife. Always double-check your measurement before cutting to ensure a perfect fit.

Step 3: Apply Sealant and Adhesive

Before installing the final piece, apply a thin bead of clear silicone sealant to the interlocking edges. This helps ensure a waterproof joint between the tiles.

Unlike the main installation process, you’ll apply adhesive to the wall (substrate) rather than to the back of the tile. This makes it easier to slide the tile into the trim without making a mess.

A handy tip is to lightly spray a small amount of water onto the adhesive and wall surface. This acts as a lubricant, allowing the tile to move more smoothly into position.

Step 4: Fit the Final Tile into the Corner Trim

Insert the cut edge of your Duma Tile into the Inside Corner Trim first. Then, while holding the tile in the trim, gently press it down toward the wall. As you push the tile into place, you’ll see the interlocking tongue and groove edges become exposed, ready to connect with the previous tile.

Continue pushing the tile into the trim until it sits flat against the wall. Once flat, carefully pull the tile back towards the interlocking joint until it fits tightly and locks securely with the adjoining tile.

Step 5: Finish and Clean

After the final tile is positioned, check for any excess sealant that may have squeezed out of the joint. Wipe it away immediately with a damp cloth or sponge to maintain a clean, professional look.

Once completed, your inside corners will not only look seamless but will also provide excellent water resistance – essential for showers, bathrooms, and kitchens.

A Perfectly Finished Corner Every Time

With Duma Tiles, even the trickiest parts of your installation can be completed easily and with precision. The Inside Corner Trims ensure every project has a tidy, sealed finish that enhances both the look and durability of your tiled surface.
